Fluorescent Light Diffuser Profile
Dachang Fluorescent Light Diffuser Profiles
A Dongguan extrusion factory making custom T5, T8 and T10 diffuser covers in polycarbonate, acrylic and GPPS, from 5 mm strip covers up to 500 mm wide panels, with transmission set anywhere between 50% and 95% and new tooling sampled inside 72 hours.

These are the linear covers Dachang extrudes for fluorescent tube fixtures and their LED retrofits. Nine sections already have tooling on the floor, including clear PC 2805 covers at 20 × 30 mm and 10 × 70 mm, a 500 mm wide opal panel, a heavy walled PC 1000R strip cover, and finished acrylic ranges in milky, frosted and semi clear. Most buyers arrive with one of two jobs: replacing a cover that has yellowed or cracked in service, or appointing a fluorescent light diffuser manufacturer who can hold optics on a new fixture. Stock sections quote off existing dies. Anything custom goes through drawing review, tooling at $400 to $1,500, and a sample you approve before production starts. The order minimum is 300 kg by weight.

Not finding your section here?
These nine are only the profiles already published. Ninety plus diffuser designs run across the wider Dachang catalogue, and a new section is quoted off a drawing or a broken sample within the same working week. Tell us the fixture width, the tube type and the transmission you need to hit.
Choosing Between Clear, Frosted and Milky Diffuser Covers for Your Fixture
Most sourcing decisions on this page come down to one trade off: how much light you keep versus how completely the lamp disappears. Clear PC covers give you maximum output and are the usual pick where the tube sits deep in the housing. Frosted holds transmittance above 70% while pushing haze past 90%, so a surface mounted fixture stops showing a bright line down the middle. Milky opal goes furthest on hiding power and is the safer choice for office ceilings and hospital corridors where glare complaints come back to you, not to us.
Surface texture is a separate lever from colour. Extrusion drag lines are unavoidable on any long plastic diffuser, but a zigzag texture designed into the die breaks up the reflection so they stop reading as defects on a finished fixture. There is also a two layer construction available: gloss on the inside face, frosted or sandblasted on the outside, which recovers some of the transmission that a textured surface normally costs you.
Quick match by application
| If your fixture is | Specify | Because |
|---|---|---|
| Industrial or high bay, cover handled often | PC 1000R strip cover, 2 mm wall | Impact and repeated snap fitting without cracking |
| Office ceiling, glare sensitive | Milky or frosted acrylic cover | Haze above 90% hides the tube completely |
| Wide panel or troffer | Opal PC 2805, 500 mm section | One extrusion instead of a jointed sheet |
| Outdoor or semi exposed | PC with UV stable grade | Anti UV test data available for the resin |
| Wet or washdown area | Milky range with IP65 or IP67 build | Waterproof grade already engineered into the section |
| Retail or decorative feature | Extruded acrylic cover | Better clarity and a harder surface than PC |

How Section and Weight Decide What a Diffuser Order Actually Costs
Every profile here publishes its finished cross section and its weight per metre, and that second number is the one that surprises people. A clear PC 2805 cover at 20 × 30 mm with a 1 mm wall runs 120 g/m. The same resin drawn as a 20 × 500 mm opal panel runs 600 g/m. Because the minimum is 300 kg of product rather than a piece count, that difference means roughly 2,500 metres of the narrow cover against about 500 metres of the wide panel for the same tonnage. Worth checking before you build a forecast around metres.
Wall thickness is set independently of width, and it is where fixture life is won or lost. The 18 mm PC 1000R cover carries a full 2 mm wall because it gets pulled off and snapped back every time a lamp is changed. The 70 mm section sits at 1.5 mm, and the 500 mm opal panel drops to 1 mm because the housing takes the load. If your drawing is not finalised, structural design advice comes with the quotation rather than as a paid engineering item, so wall and snap geometry get resolved before steel is cut.

Light Transmission and Haze Control on Custom Fluorescent Light Diffuser Extrusion
Transmission here is a number you specify, not an adjective we advertise. The T5 range publishes 75%, 80%, 85% and 90%; the milky range publishes 70%, 85% and 90%. Every batch is checked on a translucent integrating sphere before it leaves. If you send an LED board or a lamp sample, transmission is matched anywhere from 50% to 95% against your actual light source, which is what you need when the fixture has to hit a lumen figure with the cover fitted rather than on the bench.
Hiding power moves separately, and that is where a specialist plastic diffuser supplier earns its place against a sheet cutter. The frosted profile holds above 70% transmittance with haze above 90%. The GPPS profile pushes further, reaching roughly 92% transmittance with haze past 94%, because the diffusing agent is dispersed through the melt rather than sitting on the surface as a texture. Resin can also be swapped without recutting the die, so if the first sample reads too bright or too dull, the fix is a material change rather than a new tool.

Why Lighting OEMs Appoint Dachang as a Fluorescent Light Diffuser Manufacturer
Three things tend to decide it. First, the dies are ours. Every extrusion die and all downstream tooling is built in house, and the mould department was rebuilt in 2023 specifically to turn drawings into samples in 72 hours. When a section needs tuning after first article, you are not waiting on an outside die shop's queue. Second, the resin range is wide enough that material is a real variable: PC, PMMA, PVC, ABS, PS, HIPS, TPU and TPE all run here, in single, co and tri extrusion. Third, this is a factory rather than a trading desk, so price, tooling and quality answer to the same people in Tangxia, Dongguan.
What that buys you in practice is fewer handoffs. A sourcing manager sends a broken cover, gets a section drawing back, approves a sample, and the same 35 lines that made the sample make the order. Tooling capability also scales past this category: the wider catalogue runs U channels, D shape lampshades, flat panels and round tubes, which matters when your next fixture generation moves away from a tube format entirely.

Custom Tooling and 72 Hour Sampling for OEM Diffuser Programmes
The first worry most engineers raise is tooling risk: paying for a die, then waiting weeks to find out the section does not seat in the housing. Tooling is quoted at $400 to $1,500 depending on size and complexity, so the exposure is on the table before you commit anything. Mould design and first sampling complete within 72 hours, and you approve a physical sample before production is scheduled. A broken cover pulled off an installed fixture is treated exactly like a drawing.

Who owns the tooling and the design
Both OEM and ODM work is accepted, so covers can be produced to your drawing and carton marked to your own brand rather than shipped under a supplier label. Where drawings are your intellectual property, they stay yours. Raise ownership and exclusivity terms at quotation stage and they get written into the order rather than assumed.
Small details that stop projects
Two come up constantly. End caps are not extruded here, but they can be produced alongside the profile through cooperating manufacturers when you ask, which saves you running a second supplier for one small part. And on packing, flat wide PC sections can be rolled into bundles to cut freight volume, while acrylic cannot because it is too brittle. If freight cost is tight on a long cover, that is a reason to look hard at PC.
MOQ, Bulk Order and Private Label Terms for Fluorescent Light Diffuser Supply
The minimum is 300 kg of total product weight, which favours thin wall profiles and means the same budget buys very different metreage depending on your section. Cut length is yours to set, from a few millimetres up to 10 metres, with the practical ceiling being what packs and ships without damage. Catalogue lengths of 1200 mm and 2, 4 and 6 ft exist for convenience, but extrusion is continuous, so a non standard length carries no tooling penalty.
Trade terms cover FOB, CFR, CIF, DDU and Ex works, so the shipment fits whichever Incoterm your freight programme already runs. Packing is an individual PE sleeve into an export carton. The T5 profile quotes roughly 7 to 10 days for packing and dispatch; confirm the schedule against your own section and volume, since a new die adds its own sampling window ahead of production. Repeat orders on existing tooling are the fast ones, and shipments already run to Asia, Europe, Africa, South America and North America.
Certification and Test Reports Behind Every Dachang Diffuser Shipment
Paperwork is what gets a cover through customs and past your customer's incoming inspection, so here is what exists and what each item does for you.
- ISO 9001 certified processes. Production runs under a documented quality system, which is the reason transmission and dimensions repeat on the fifth order the way they did on the first.
- RoHS. Profiles are made from 100% virgin raw material in RoHS compliant resin, with a test report on file. This is the baseline for EU shipments and for most OEM supply chains.
- REACH, SVHC 33rd list. A declaration dated January 2025 covers substance of very high concern screening for European buyers.
- SGS and UL. Both are listed against the T5 and milky profiles. Ask for the current certificate scope on your specific resin before you write either into a tender.
- PMMA 8N anti UV report and PC environmental declaration. Relevant whenever the fixture sees daylight, because UV stability decides whether a cover yellows in year three.
All profiles are inspected at 100% before delivery, with dimensional checks handled in house on imported measuring equipment against the sample you approved.

Questions Sourcing Managers Ask Before Placing a Fluorescent Light Diffuser Order
What is the minimum order quantity?
300 kg of total product weight, not a piece or length minimum. Since weight per metre swings from 120 g/m on the 20 × 30 mm clear cover to 600 g/m on the 500 mm opal panel, that same 300 kg is roughly 2,500 metres of the first or 500 metres of the second. Send your section and target volume and we will convert the minimum into metres for your specific part.
Can you copy a cover if all I have is a broken sample?
Yes. A physical sample works in place of a drawing, and mould design plus first sampling finishes within 72 hours. Tooling is cut in house at $400 to $1,500 depending on section size and complexity. Where the original resin is unknown, our engineers propose a match based on the fixture's operating temperature and the finish of the sample you send.
Polycarbonate or acrylic, which should I specify?
Polycarbonate for impact and heat, since PC 2805 holds its properties from −60 °C to 120 °C and flat wide PC sections can be rolled for freight. Acrylic for optical clarity and scratch resistance in retail and decorative fixtures, accepting that PMMA is brittle and ships flat. The same die runs either material, so you can revisit the choice during sampling instead of guessing up front.
How do you prove the transmission figure before shipment?
Each batch is measured on a translucent integrating sphere. Published grades on this range run 70% to 90%, and custom targets are matched from 50% to 95%. Sending your LED board lets transmission be tuned against your real light source rather than a nominal datasheet value.
What sections and lengths can you actually extrude?
Cross sections from 5 mm up to 500 mm wide. Cut lengths from a few millimetres to 10 metres, with the real limit being safe packing and freight. Extrusion is continuous, so a non standard length costs no more in tooling than a catalogue size does.
Can I get visible extrusion lines off the surface?
Drag lines cannot be eliminated entirely on any extruded profile, and any supplier who promises otherwise is overselling. They can be made invisible in a finished fixture by designing a zigzag texture into the die, or by using the two layer build with a gloss inner face and a frosted outer face. Send a sample of the surface quality you need approved against.
How is it packed, and on what terms?
Individual PE sleeve into an export carton. The T5 profile quotes about 7 to 10 days for packing and delivery, with a new die adding its own sampling window first. FOB, CFR, CIF, DDU and Ex works are all handled, and current exports cover Asia, Europe, Africa, South America and North America.
Send three things and you will get a real quotation, not a range
A dimensional drawing or a sample of the cover, the transmission or hiding power you need to hit, and your annual volume. That is enough for the Dachang tooling desk to come back with section feasibility, tooling cost and a production schedule. If a stock die already matches, you skip tooling altogether.
