Dachang Rigid PVC Profile

You are in the right category if you need

  • A section that holds its own shape: frames, guides, covers, trims, slats
  • A shape nobody stocks, cut from a new die to your drawing
  • A flame rating, a brand colour, or an outdoor service life on the spec sheet

You probably want a neighbouring category if

  • The part has to bend, seal or grip, which is soft PVC profile territory
  • Light has to pass through it, so look at clear PVC profile instead
  • You need a hard body with a soft lip in one pass, which is co-extrusion PVC profile

Where these rigid PVC profiles end up in real assemblies

This category collects the unplasticised sections Dachang extrudes for OEM buyers: decorative trims and edge banding, 90 degree angles and U channels, window and door frame reinforcement, roller shutter slats, keder rail for tension fabric systems, photo frame and display mouldings, and flat panel strips. Most are made to a customer cross section rather than pulled from a stock die, so the buying path runs from drawing to tooling quotation, then first article, then series production. Builders of refrigerated cabinets, shopfitters, lighting assemblers and window fabricators are the regular buyers here, and the pieces they order are usually cut to length, drilled or CNC machined before they leave the plant.

Every figure below is the published value for that item. None of it is a ceiling, since any dimension can be re-cut into a new die, but it does show the working range these lines run day to day.

Sizes, wall thickness and weight we run every week

The published envelope for this category runs 10 to 250 mm in width, 10 to 80 mm in height, 0.8 to 3 mm in wall thickness, with listed part weights between 100 and 500 g. Two profiles already on the lines show what that looks like in the hand. The keder rail is a 20 by 10 mm section with a 1.3 mm wall, 85 g per metre, cut at 1000 mm. The 45 mm series is 28 by 40 mm with a 1.5 mm wall at 160 g per metre.

Wall thickness is the number worth settling first. Below roughly 1 mm a hard PVC section becomes sensitive to draw down and cooling variation, so anything at the thin end of that range is sampled and measured before the die is released for volume work. It is cheaper to find that out on a 50 metre trial than on a 4000 metre run.

You will notice we do not publish a blanket tolerance figure, and you should be careful with any supplier who does. Wall ratio, cavity count and shrinkage all move it. Tolerances get fixed on the approved drawing at sampling, and the first article is measured against your drawing rather than against a generic table.

Not sure the section will extrude cleanly?

Send the DXF or a photo of the existing part. You get a manufacturability comment back, not just a price, and if the geometry needs a radius added or a wall balanced we will say so before anyone cuts steel.

Choosing the hard PVC compound for the environment your part lives in

Rigid PVC is a formulation problem before it is an extrusion problem. Unmodified resin starts to dehydrochlorinate around 120 °C yet needs 160 to 210 °C to process, so the working window and the degradation window overlap. Our barrels sit at 170 to 180 °C with the die head at 190 to 210 °C, and the powder blend is controlled before that at 115 to 120 °C hot mix, then cold mixed and discharged at 45 °C after 10 to 15 minutes. When a customer shows us colour drift, brittleness or surface haze from a previous supplier, the cause is usually sitting in that stage rather than in the die.

So the compound gets built around your application instead of a house recipe. Heat stabiliser choice separates transparent and hard sections from opaque ones. UV absorbers and rutile titanium dioxide go in for outdoor service. Antimony trioxide and chlorinated paraffin lift flame resistance to the UL 94 V0 grade. Filler loading in rigid work stays under 10 phr, because heavier loading buys stiffness and gives away impact strength. Tell the engineer where the part lives, whether that is an indoor display, a facade, a refrigerated cabinet or a luminaire housing, and the additive package follows.

Sometimes the honest answer is that this material is wrong for you, and we would rather say it at quotation than at the complaint stage.

Material choice when a custom extruded profile has to survive something specific

If the part must Specify Why
Hold structure at low cost with inherent flame resistance Rigid PVC, SG-5 base High chlorine content gives flame resistance before any additive goes in
Keep its colour outdoors for years ASA Better long term colour retention under UV than a pigmented vinyl section
Take impact, including in the cold ABS or PC/ABS Toughness matters more here than flame class
Transmit or diffuse light PMMA or PC Optical grades, and the same plant runs LED diffuser profiles

All of these compounds are extruded on the same site, so switching material does not mean switching supplier or restarting your vendor approval.

Why a repeat order of the same uPVC section comes back identical

Forty extrusion machines run continuously here, which is the practical reason container scale orders get scheduled rather than queued behind somebody else's job. A separate in house mould workshop cuts and trials the dies, so a tooling revision after first article does not travel out to a subcontractor and come back three weeks later.

Repeatability between your first order and your fourth matters more than any single golden sample. The die stays in the building, the compound recipe is filed against your part number, and the co-extrusion lines installed in 2010 handle two colour sections or a hard body with a soft lip in one pass. Dachang is a direct manufacturer rather than a trading agent, so die cutting, compounding, extrusion, machining and packing all happen at the Dongguan plant, which is also where a factory audit or the online VR walkthrough will take you.

How Dachang turns your drawing into an OEM rigid PVC extrusion

1

You send a drawing, a DXF or STEP file, or the old part itself

A physical sample works fine when no drawing survives, which is common on legacy tooling. Include annual volume, colour, flame class and target price if you have one, because all four change the quotation.

2

We quote tooling and unit price together

Design turnaround from a clean drawing is quoted at 72 hours by the mould department rebuilt in 2023. You see the manufacturability comments at this point, not after the die is cut.

3

New tooling and first sample, normally about 15 days

Samples ship to you for approval. Nothing goes to volume until you confirm them, and this is the only stage where correcting a die is cheap.

4

Series production, secondary machining, then packing to your spec

Cutting, drilling, CNC and chamfering happen in house, and cartons, wooden cases, pallets and label paper follow your own labelling artwork for private label supply.

Two things to settle in the contract before the PO, because they are negotiable and the website does not publish a standard clause for either: who owns the die once the tooling charge is paid, and whether that charge is credited back against volume. Ask us directly and get it in the text.

MOQ, lead time and trade terms for a bulk order

Minimum order quantity on a custom profile is driven by weight per metre rather than piece count, because the changeover and purge cost is broadly fixed whatever you order. The published worked example is a section of about 0.075 kg per metre carrying a 4000 metre minimum. A heavier frame section reaches the same material threshold in far fewer metres, so ask for the number against your own drawing instead of assuming this one.

Commercial terms published for this category

MOQ 4000 m on a profile of roughly 0.075 kg/m, recalculated by section weight
Production lead time 15 days for listed items once tooling exists and the sample is approved
Tooling lead time About 15 days from approved drawing to first sample
Trade terms FOB, EXW or FCA
Loading port Shenzhen
Payment 50% in advance covering moulding and the order
Packing Carton or plywood box as standard, wooden case or pallet for heavy consignments

Certifications that travel with the shipment

Four documents cover most vendor approval files, and each answers a different question your quality team will ask.

ISO 9001 Quality management certification, which is what gives you documented process control and traceability on repeat orders. The site lists the 9001:2000 revision, so ask us for the current certificate scan for your vendor file.
RoHS Restricted hazardous substances. You need this when the profile ships inside an electrical, lighting or electronic assembly bound for the EU.
REACH EU substance registration. Relevant if you are the importer and have to file your own downstream user declarations.
UL 94 V0 and V2 Flammability class of the compound. V0 self extinguishes faster than V2 and is normally what enclosures, luminaires and cable management call for.

A flame class belongs to the compound rather than to the factory. Put the UL 94 grade on the purchase order for any part that needs one and ask for the compound test report with the first shipment, because a V2 material will not pass a V0 audit even when the section looks identical.

Questions sourcing managers ask before placing the first order

What is the minimum order quantity for a custom rigid PVC profile?

MOQ is calculated from the weight per metre of your section rather than a flat piece count. On a profile of roughly 0.075 kg per metre the published minimum is 4000 metres. Heavier cross sections hit the same material threshold at lower metre counts, so send the drawing and we will give you the number for your part.

How long does new tooling take, and can you work from a sample instead of a drawing?

New tooling normally runs about 15 days from approved drawing to first sample, and mould design turnaround from a clean drawing is quoted at 72 hours. A physical sample of the existing part is perfectly workable when the drawing is lost. Series production starts only after you approve the first article.

Can you match our brand colour and still hit UL 94 V0?

Yes. Colour is matched to a Pantone number and the compound is available in UL 94 V0 or V2. Put both on the purchase order, since the flame class is a property of the material and it changes both the formulation and the price.

What size range can Dachang extrude in this material?

The published envelope is 10 to 250 mm wide, 10 to 80 mm high, with walls from 0.8 to 3 mm. Sections outside that get assessed case by case against available line and haul off capacity. Very thin walls are always sampled before a die is released for volume runs.

Which trade and payment terms apply on an export order?

FOB, EXW and FCA are all quoted, with Shenzhen as the standard loading port. Payment is 50% in advance covering tooling and the order, with the balance on the agreed term. Standard packing is carton or plywood box, and wooden cases or pallets are available for heavy consignments.

When should we choose ABS or ASA instead?

Choose vinyl for cost sensitive structural sections that need inherent flame resistance and chemical stability. Choose ASA when long term outdoor colour retention drives the specification, ABS or PC/ABS when impact toughness matters more than flame class, and PMMA or PC when light has to pass through. Every one of those runs on the same site, so your geometry carries across without a new supplier audit.

Send the drawing and get a quotation from Dachang

Quotations move fastest when the first email carries enough to price properly. Include as much of this as you have.

  • Cross section drawing, DXF or STEP, or a clear photo of the existing part with dimensions
  • Annual volume and your first order quantity
  • Colour reference, ideally a Pantone number, and the required finish
  • Flame class if the assembly needs one, plus any RoHS or REACH obligation
  • Cut length, secondary machining, and how you want it packed and labelled
  • Destination port and the trade term you work on
